CIF success leads to completion of new English block at Queens’ School

After the preparation of a successful CIF bid, Synergy’s education team has delivered a replacement English block at Queens’ School.

Securing the Condition Improvement Funding has ensured that over 100 students can be accommodated in comfortable, modern and much-needed space for lessons.

With the previous classroom block reaching the end of its lifespan, the poor condition of the fabric caused a range of urgent issues making the building no longer fit for purpose.

Before/After

The new single-storey building has increased student capacity by providing an extra classroom than the original block had, due to an additional funding contribution from the school.

Four classrooms, a teacher’s office and WC are centered around a spacious lobby with a large glazed atrium roof light providing plenty of natural light. A Brise Soleil system has been installed to the windows to help control solar heat gain and the external area has been landscaped with new paving.

The new building’s improved thermal efficiencies will support with lower running costs.

In addition, the building has been specially designed to allow for an upwards extension if an additional storey is required in the future.
